Do you remember Bill Clinton's wild and crazy surgeon general Joycelyn Elders?

I sure do!

She advocated frot for teenagers if you recall though she didn't call it that.

Yep, and the very next day her bullet-ridden body, metaphorically speaking, was found on the Capitol steps; and she hasn't been much heard from since.

That's why our campaign can't get off the ground.

The gay establishment is against it because we're openly critical of anal.

But more significantly, public health professionals, like Elders, who privately agree with us -- and I'm in touch with a bunch of them through Dr. Edward C. Green, who did the work on ABC in Uganda and who's on the President's Advisory Council on HIV / AIDS (the PACHA) -- those professionals will not speak publicly in favor of mutual masturbation or any other sexual alternative.

They know they'd be savaged and, more to the point, they'd lose their funding.

Elders was in effect an object lesson for any health care professional who might try to talk about sex in a frank and positive way in America.

And it worked -- her demise effectively ended the discussion.

So there's a de facto conspiracy between the religious right and what I call the analist left to keep anal at the center of gay male sexual practice.

The religious right likes anal because of its attendant disease, which fits with their notion that God hates and punishes homosexuality.

Again, I've corresponded with religious right figures -- they find us alarming -- because we stand for a form of homosex which undercuts their arguments.

She called it outercourse. I believe her motive was lowering teen pregnacy rates.

And HIV prevalence.

It's too bad she was silenced.

A lot of people died to satisfy the religious right's idea that only abstinence is acceptable for teens and gay men.

I am seventy years old and have experienced most forms of gay sex with my first experience being frot though I didn't know it had a name till just recently.

Yep, I coined the term Frot and we've been working hard to popularize it.

It has always been my favorite form of sex.

So: for saying the words "mutual masturbation" and telling the truth -- that we could reduce the prevalence of both teen pregnancy and HIV by encouraging teens and adults to avoid penetration -- Jocelyn Elders was forced to resign as Surgeon General.

And no one else in a public position has dared to take up her ideas.

The religious right talks a lot about pornography and "family values."

But what they're really after is to silence all talk about sex in America.

Particularly free talk.

They don't care if people have to pay for pornography.

What they want is frank and free talk about sex banned from the public arena.

And banished to the for-pay shadows.

That's why this site is free.

Because talk about sex should be and must be free.

By destroying the careers of people like Elders and others supporting moderate and commonsense solutions to problems of sexuality, the religious right has managed to frame the debate as a choice between abstinence and fornication.

That's utterly false.

But until people like Jocelyn Elders -- and myself -- are supported in talking about sex openly, honestly, and truthfully:

The religious right will continue to control the conversation -- and your lives.
