Anti-Gay Pastor Has Constitutional Right To Pick Up Male Hustlers For Sex Lawyer Says

(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) The lawyer for a former Baptist church leader who had spoken out against homosexuality said Thursday the minister has a constitutional right to solicit sex from an undercover policeman.
The Rev. Lonnie W. Latham had supported a resolution calling on gays and lesbians to reject their "sinful, destructive lifestyle" before his Jan. 3, 2006, arrest outside the Habana Inn in Oklahoma City.
Authorities say he asked the undercover policeman to come up to his hotel for oral sex.
His attorney, Mack Martin, filed a motion to have the misdemeanor lewdness charge thrown out, saying the Supreme Court ruled in the 2003 decision Lawrence v. Texas that it was not illegal for consenting adults to engage in private homosexual acts.
"Now, my client's being prosecuted basically for having offered to engage in such an act, which basically makes it a crime to ask someone to do something that's legal," Martin said.
Both sides agree there was no offer of money, but prosecutor Scott Rowland said there is a "legitimate governmental interest" in regulating offers of acts of lewdness.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma has filed a brief claiming that Latham's arrest also violated his right to free speech.
Before his arrest, Latham had spoken against same-sex marriage and in support of a Southern Baptist resolution that called upon gays and lesbians to reject their lifestyle.
He has since resigned as pastor of the South Tulsa Baptist Church and stepped down from the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, where he was one of four members from Oklahoma.
On Thursday Latham declined to talk to reporters at the non-jury trial.
Judge Roma M. McElwee said she would rule on the motion and issue a verdict in about two weeks. If convicted of the misdemeanor, Latham faces up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.
The case has similarities to that of the Rev. Ted Haggard who was forced to leave his Colorado Springs megachurch and resign as president of the National Association of Evangelicals, a position which had given him unbridled access to the White House, after a male prostitute went public about gay sex trysts and drug abuse.
Bill Weintraub:
First we had Haggard; then we had Barnes; then we had Haggard II, where the congregation he'd founded viciously turned on him; then we had Dugan, who certainly didn't deserve what happened to him; and now we have Latham.
Latham talked about a "sinful, destructive lifestyle."
Original, huh?
And wrong.
The "sin" is coming from Latham and his ilk and it's against MAN and the LOVE of MAN.
What's at work with ALL of these people, and what's essential for YOU to understand, is the belief that if you have sexual desires towards another MAN, you're not really a MAN.
That's a LIE.
ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU THAT YOU'RE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MAN -- is lying to you.
Anyone who attempts to LABEL you in any way other than MAN -- is lying to you.
MEN HAVE SEX WITH MEN.
Get over it.
YOU're a MAN
Deal with it.
If someone tells you that because you're into "frottage," you're intermediate between a gay man and a straight man -- that too is a LIE.
You're a MAN.
Do not accept any other label, title, name, category -- whatever you or they try to call it.
You're a MAN.
The reason I've posted so much material from the ancient world -- and I'm going to keep posting it, I have another big article in the works which I will strongly encourage you to read -- is that in the ancient world, the LOVE of MEN did not divide MEN from other MEN.
Those MEN were WARRIORS.
That's what they did.
They fought.
They were Warriors.
Those MEN were also the FOUNDERS of the WESTERN WORLD.
If they didn't think the LOVE of MEN was bad, wrong, immoral -- why should you or anyone else?
Because of these fraudulent clerics -- like Haggard and Barnes and Latham?
Or Akinola, whom we've written about, and who is CLEARLY a closet case and a fraud?
Yet he's got the Episcopals in America on the defensive.
NO.
Akinola's stance is "I'm in competition with Islam, so I've got to be anti-gay" -- which in his case means, anti the LOVE of MEN.
Can you imagine Christ saying something like that?
"We're competing with the Pharisees so we can't include Samaritans, or prostitutes, or centurions, or their lovers."
Didn't happen that way, did it?
These people are frauds.
But you need to look beyond the religious hypocrisy -- to the central lie:
that real MEN don't love other MEN.
That's the LIE.
You're a MAN.
Your LOVE of other MEN is normal, NATURAL, and right.
Be true to yourself as a MAN -- be true to your MASCULINITY.
Be true to yourself as a MAN -- be true to your WARRIOR BROTHER.
Be true to yourself as a MAN -- be true to your MANHOOD.
Masculinity.
Fidelity
Phallus.
PHALLUS:
Be true to your MANHOOD -- let the expression of your LOVE be PHALLIC.
And nothing other.
MASCULINE
FAITHFUL
PHALLIC
We say that Masculinity is a Divine Principle, Manhood a Divine Gift, and Frot a Holy Sacrament.
Which is why we speak of
SACRED PHALLIC LOVE
SACRED MAN2MAN LOVE
That's what your life and your love have to be.
Notice that this latest pastor, Latham, offered the cop a blow-job.
He was going to "service" the cop -- play an effeminized role in meaningless, promiscuous sex which has nothing to do with HIS Manhood.
The prostitute in the Haggard case, Mike Jones, said that most of the sex between them was oral.
Do you think Haggard blew Jones?
I do.
Because the first thing these males do is assume an effeminized role.
That's what they do.
Our heterosexualized society expects it.
And they do it.
BUT THEY'RE WRONG.
They're MEN.
And so are YOU.
You are not a woman.
You are not halfway between a man and a woman.
You are not halfway between one type of man and another type of man.
You're a MAN.
Deal with it.
I understand why those guys think the way they do.
It's all over the culture.
Popular gay writer Dan Savage's column this week was titled "Satisfied Slaveboys and Happy Femmes."
The culture tells these males over and over and over again that to be "gay" is to play an effeminized role.
And that's a lie.
In your life, you can serve the TRUTH -- or the LIE.
You can't serve both.
Latham, Barnes, Haggard, and in some ways and sadly -- Dugan -- all served the LIE.
They've been punished.
But they've done a lot of damage.
