He went on to say that he was critical of anal.

Once he'd made clear what he believed, I realized that his op-ed was enormously duplicitous.

Not because of its content -- the actual words on the page.

But because of what he had NOT said outright and at the beginning of the piece:

that he believes that men shouldn't have sex with men.

Not under any circumstances.

Not ever.

And I have to say that aside from some of the things Andrew Sullivan, another as it happens self-described gay Catholic conservative, has written, I've never seen an AIDS piece as duplicitous as this one.

Which is why I haven't put up a link to it.

Again, it's not the content.

Most of us would read it and agree -- the gay community has behaved badly around HIV.

We've been saying so for years.

That's not the issue.

It's the huge and thundering LIE of omission -- which, once you're aware of it, totally changes the meaning of the piece.

Because its author is profoundly FALSE.

He concealed his true beliefs about men having sex with men in order to present himself as a member of the MSM community who is outraged by its bad behavior.

But he is NOT a member of the community.

And he hid that fact.

Yes, you could google his name and with some effort find his blog.

And then start digging through it.

But -- the average newspaper reader isn't going to do that.

So this was a real piece of religious right bullshit.

Masquerading as opinion from within the gay community.

And I do not believe in rewarding that sort of duplicity with a link.

Just for starters.

And again, I want to make clear that that sort of lie is not the norm in that sort of AIDS piece and indeed is way beyond the pale.

For example, I don't agree with almost anything the National Minority AIDS Council has to say about HIV.

But they're not duplicitous in the way this man is.

In their recent report about affordable housing and so forth, they're quite open about who they are and what they believe.

Not this guy.

He seems to think that if he lies on behalf of the Church, it's okay.

It is NOT.

I want to look at two of his statements in his emails to me, because just as we need to be aware of what someone like Haggard -- who's Protestant religious right -- believes, so we need to understand the Catholic religious right.

Which is very well-funded and very powerful.

I am a commited Catholic and I assent to the teachings of the Church with regard to homogenital acts.

1. "a commited Catholic"

What he's doing there is drawing a line between himself and those Catholics -- of whom there are a great many -- who do NOT assent to Church teaching on same-sex sex.

He's saying that he's a "commited Catholic" -- and that by implication, those who don't agree with him are not committed to the Church.

Which is a lie.

There are people who are very committed to the Church who don't agree with Church doctrine about sex between men.

2. "homogenital acts"

That's a new one on me.

In the early days of gay lib, we used to jokingly say that a gay book was a book which had sex with other books, and a gay play one which had sex with other plays.

So I guess a "homogenital" would be a genital which has sex with other genitals.

In which case, per Redd, ALL genitals are homogenitals.

Why am I pointing to this?

Because words like "homosexual" and "homogenital" are used to divide MEN from MEN.

These words are devices to separate and confuse MEN.

Here's the TRUTH:

ALL men are "homosexual."

And ALL MEN possess "homogenitals."

And ALL WOMEN too.

So: his first statement is nonsense.

He says "I'm a committed Catholic" -- but there are MANY committed Catholics who don't agree with him.

And the teachings of the Church with regard to "homogenital acts" are as silly as the word "homogenital" itself.

Next -- this is from a second email he sent me, after he'd spent a little time on the site:

First off, of course, Frot is not masturbation.

There's nothing wrong with masturbation, but masturbation is different from Frot, which has a very specific definition.

Oops.

I just said there's nothing wrong with masturbation.

But, our committed one says, the Church "teaches against masturbation."

And he's not kidding.

I've dealt with some of these Catholic right people before.

One, a physician, told me that masturbation is physically harmful and that he counsels his male patients accordingly.

Actually, as we've reported, one study found that masturbating lowers the risk of prostate cancer.

But these people don't care.

They teach that masturbation is a sin.

And they then assert that they have "a more humane understanding of love and affection and the place of sexual desire in flourishing."

Of course, to them, "the place of sexual desire in flourishing" -- if that desire is male-male -- is NIL.

There is NO place for male-male sexual desire in flourishing.

Other than a desire which has been totally suppressed, sublimated, and cut off.

A psychic and spiritual castration.

The DE-MASCULINIZING OF THE MALE.

Which they then characterize as "more humane."

so are these people lying when they claim that the "Christian" understanding of sex between men is more humane than the Greek.

It is anything but humane.

It is harsh, it is ugly, and it is UNnatural.

It seeks to destroy the NATURAL LOVE OF MAN FOR MAN.

And in my view that is a crime against humanity.

I have said that analism is the enemy of humanity.

SO IS RELIGIOUS FANATICISM.

I don't care whether it's "committed Catholic" or "evangelical Protestant."

Now, not content with concealing the true nature of his opinions about sex between men, our "committed Catholic" also attacked gay marriage.

Because the Church doesn't approve.

Again, he made no mention of the relationship between his ideas and the Church in his op-ed.

But that's what was motivating him.

That's what he's about.

Then, in his email to me, he said that parts of our sites are pornographic.

NO.

If I said to him that I found depictions of the crucifixion "pornographic" -- which I do not -- he'd be deeply offended.

But he thinks it's okay to say to me that depictions of phallic bonding , which to us is a Holy Sacrament, are pornographic.

They're not.

The pornography is in his mind.

He thinks that men should not have "homogenital" contact.

In the Haggard message thread, Redd says that folks on the religous right

I think such distorted thinking is the type of platform analism and heterosexism thrives upon. The Church has demonized the body, and analists acknowledge such demonization by infecting the body with fatal diseases. It's like an exorcism. The only way to exorcise a demonized body is to kill the body.

Well this "committed" Catholic is just one more of the religious who really has some hidden sexual problems himself in my opinion. First of all he is DECEPTIVE when he says he's gay identified yet he is against M2M sex. Gee isn't deception a ploy of the DEVIL? Hmmm... surely no "good Christian/Catholic" would resort to using Satan's weapons would they?

As for masturbation ALL males DO IT and that's a FACT! Masturbation is a NORMAL and NATURAL human behavior! There is nothing "sinful" about it!! A male prostitute had said he had had sex with Haggard for three years.

On Sunday, Paul Barnes, founding pastor of the 2,100-member Grace Chapel in this Denver suburb, told his evangelical congregation in a videotaped message he had had sexual relations with other men and was stepping down.

Dave Palmer, associate pastor of Grace Chapel, told The Denver Post that Barnes confessed to him after the church received a call last week.

The church board of elders accepted Barnes' resignation on Thursday.

On the videotape, which The Post was allowed to view, Barnes told church members: "I have struggled with homosexuality since I was a 5-year-old boy. ... I can't tell you the number of nights I have cried myself to sleep, begging God to take this away."

Barnes, 54, led Grace Chapel for 28 years. He and his wife have two adult children.

Palmer said in a written statement that "While we cannot condone what he has done, we continue to support and love Paul."

Guys --

First Ted Haggard and now Paul Barnes have sent the young men of America a terrible message.

Haggard has said that the Love of Man for Man is immoral, a dark and repulsive force.

When young men look to an alternative to that message, what do they find?

That the alternative is to get fucked up the ass like some soulless, lost, bitch.

Help us counter these lies.

With the TRUTH that Men can and should thank God for the gift of their Masculinity and their Manhood.

And for the True Phallic Love of Man for Man inherent in that gift.

All true love stems from God.
